Father kills three daughters aged 11, 10 and 4 in Alfortville, outside Paris

The man, who confessed to the crime in a police station, has a history of male violence and violence against minors

The police in Alfortville, on the outskirts of Paris, have found the lifeless bodies of three girls aged 4, 10 and 11 in a flat in the town . Not long before, the children's father, a 41-year-old man with a history of male violence , had appeared at a Normandy police station to confess to the crime.

The agents had to force the door of the family home to enter. Inside they found a Dantesque scene, with the three children stabbed to death .

The police are now trying to locate the mother of the three minors , who they have not yet been able to contact because she is not at her home, in Marolles-en-Brie, nor at the home of any family member.

According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the father had been sentenced in 2021 for "aggravated domestic violence" to 18 months in prison, but part of the sentence was suspended. As a result of this sentence, the man had been under surveillance until August 28.

A source close to the case has explained that the alleged perpetrator of the triple murder had shared custody of the girls, a fact that neither the police nor the Prosecutor's Office have confirmed.

The detainee is now in police custody awaiting questioning by the judge.

The City Council of Alfortville has created a crisis team to deal with the tragedy and will send teams of psychologists on Monday morning to the school where the little girls studied. The Prosecutor's Office of CrĂ©teil has taken over the investigation of the triple crime.

In France, the number of convictions for male violence and violence against minors in the home has doubled between 2017 and 2022. According to the French Ministry of the Interior, 80% of the victims were minors in the time of events and more than half were women.

Just a few days ago, a gendarme killed his three daughters in VĂ©mars, in the Val-d'Oise and then committed suicide.
