The Haeger Case:42 days in the dark

The disappearance of a mother of a family that ended in murder

Carles Porta tries to shed light on the darkness in  a case that is studied as an example of malpractice in police schools in South America and is the demonstration that without a good police investigation it is difficult to deliver justice. The harassment of the press, moreover, aggravated the nightmare of the victim's family. The case is settled, but there are still many unanswered questions .

When : June 2010

Where : Puerto Varas, Chile

How : In an exclusive urbanization, the Anguita Haeger family begins another routine day. The mother, Viviana, says goodbye to her two daughters, aged 8 and 14, who are leaving for school. Their father, Jaime, accompanies them by car on the way to work. The mother has stayed with the older daughter who will pick her up from school at lunchtime, but she does not show up and the girl has to walk home. When he gets there he finds the back door open and the master bedroom locked.

His mother is not there. Viviana Haeger seems to have disappeared
