  • The training is promoted jointly by the General Directorate of Cultural Promotion and Libraries and the Catalan Institute of Cultural Enterprises
  •
  • The training module aims to train programmers to incorporate a gender and intersectional perspective, both when creating and programming

On April 13 and 17 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the two virtual sessions of the "Gender Perspective in the Theater World" training session will be held   by Rocío Manzano and Magalí Permanyer from  NUS Cooperativa with the aim of making visible and sensitize the theater sector to the masculinist inertia of the patriarchal system that is still experienced there and try to reverse them.

The training, co-organized by the General Directorate of Cultural Promotion and Libraries and the Catalan Institute of Cultural Enterprises (ICEC), through the  Business Development Service  (SDE), is aimed at programming managers and technical managers of the equipment, cultural spaces and professional people in the sector, and will address the specifics of the gender perspective in the world of the performing arts, as well as its application in different roles and trades that are part of it, paying special attention to: Interpretation, Management, Work in Companies, Programming and Training Spaces.

This training module seeks to provide resources and tools for professionals in the theater sector in order to be able to put into practice the gender perspective; promote the programming, communication and management of cultural facilities and spaces in this regard and publicize good practices and projects of reference.

The theater is a mirror of our society and consequently reflects the patriarchal dynamics that still prevail in our culture. For this reason, it is necessary to vindicate non-hegemonic views, such as those of women or people with a non-binary gender identity, and to rethink culture in a feminist and inclusive way.

The conference aims to raise the theater as a space of creation and transgression as well as give voice to new referents. To achieve this, it is essential that professionals in the world of culture incorporate a gender and intersectional perspective, both in creation and in programming.
